Rome Collaboration: Can hope combat marginalization?

From 18-26 June David Newheiser (ACU) met with Linn Tonstad (Yale) and Vincent Lloyd (Villanova) for intensive collaboration in relation to their ACU-funded research project, “Can hope combat marginalization?” They are working to produce a tri-authored book that brings Christian reflection on hope into conversation with Black, queer, and continental thought: where critics from these fields argue that hope distracts communities from addressing the concrete challenges posed by marginalization, this project aims to clarify the way in which hope (rightly understood) is a virtue that catalyzes the struggle for social justice.
